‘Understanding very properly’: Trump optimistic about US-India commerce talks, calls PM Modi ‘sensible man, nice pal’

US President Donald Trump has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “very sensible man” and a “nice pal of mine” whereas expressing confidence that tariff negotiations between India and the US would “work out very properly.” His remarks maintain significance as he has repeatedly criticized India and different nations for imposing excessive tariffs on American items.

“Prime Minister Modi was right here only recently, and we now have at all times been excellent associates,” Trump stated on the White Home on Friday.

PM Modi had visited Washington, DC, in February and held bilateral talks with Trump, simply weeks after Trump’s second time period as US President started.
