Uber: Uber to add electrics, take on local rivals

NEW DELHI: As sustainability is at the heart of mobility and the government is pushing taxi companies to use green vehicles, ride-hailing operator Uber announced it will be adding electric vehicles to its fleet. The move comes at a time when new and smaller challengers, such as local ones, are arriving BluSmartare increasing their all-electric fleet, giving them the ability to price their rides competitively.
Uber said it will explore multiple partnerships to accelerate electrification. As part of Uber Green’s launch in June, 25,000 electric cars will be added in partnership with fleet providers like Lithium, Everest and Moove. In addition, 10,000 electric two-wheelers will be launched in Delhi by 2024 Zypp Electric.
The company has also partnered with sidbi Providing 1,000 crore rupees to fund the purchase of clean cars and the construction of charging stations.
