On Monday, 3M, maker of tape and post-it notes, announced Group President and Chief Business and Country Officer Michael Vale has resigned for good cause.
Vale, who had worked at the company for more than 30 years, was reported for “inappropriate personal conduct and violation of company policies.” Wall Street Journal. 3M’s total cash compensation for 2022 was more than $1.6 million, according to a current shareholder of the company report.

3M communicated that Wall Street Journal that the termination came after the company verified that Vale had violated company policy, but did not provide specific details other than to clarify that the violation was not related to 3M’s operations or finances.
At the same time, Toro, a manufacturer of lawn and snow equipment, announced that Vale had resigned as a director of the company. Toro’s statement to the diary also clarified that this “was not the result of a disagreement over operations, policies or practices and declined to comment further.”

Last month, Vale was appointed to a new position at 3M, where he will continue to lead security and industrials, adding transportation and electronics, consumer business groups and emerging markets. Previously, he led the Safety and Industry practice and was involved in the company’s ramped-up production of respirators during the pandemic.
According to 3M, a successor to Vale is currently being sought.
